An analysis of the 20 most "expensive" keywords in Google AdWords represent things that many Americans are lacking or worried about these days: Insurance, loans and mortgages.
With 97 percent of Google's $33.3 billion in revenue in the past year coming from advertising, WordStream's AdWords breakdown shows that the top keyword, "insurance," earns Google $54.91 for every "cost per click."
Among examples of clicky, keyword ad phrases for "insurance": "ca (California) auto insurance," "buy car insurance online" and "life insurance comparison quotes."

If No. 20 jumped out at you, you're probably not alone. "Cord blood" refers to umbilical cord blood, and a controversial topic when it comes to using it for stem cell research. Researchers believe stem cells may one day help cure spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease and other ailments. Opponents believe using embryonic umbilical cord blood that way is a form of abortion because human embryos must be destroyed to obtain the stem cells.
