Bank of America stock gets the boost that it needed after Warren Buffet invested $5 billion in the company. This is following the news that Bank of America is in danger because of its collapsing stock on Wednesday.

The Bank of America is now under fire from shareholders and analysts because the injection of capital helped restore confidence in the company and helped the Wall Street firm attract other investments.

“Bank of America is a strong, well-led company,” Buffett said in a statement released by Bank of America (BOA).

“I am impressed with the profit-generating abilities of this franchise, and that they are acting aggressively to put their challenges behind them.

“Bank of America is focused on their customers and on serving them well. That’s what customers want, and that’s the company’s strategy.”

Bank of America to cut more jobs

19 August 2011 Last updated at 18:27 GMT The bank has seen its share price tumble this year Bank of America is to cut 3,500 staff this quarter as part of a restructuring plan.

The bank was hit hard in the US housing bubble and subsequent market crash.

In July, the firm reported a record quarterly loss after agreeing an $8.5bn (£5.2bn) settlement related to sub-prime mortgages.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and New York Times say the job cuts at the biggest US bank by assets might eventually exceed 10,000.

According to its latest annual report the bank had about 280,000 employees at the start of 2011.

Bank of America spokesman, Scott Silvestri, said: "The company regularly assesses the efficiency of its businesses and at times is going to make adjustments to meet the opportunities that are in the marketplace."

The initial 3,500 job cuts will be spread across the bank's business including investment banking and trading.

The bank's share price has fallen by nearly 50% so far this year, and it was one of the biggest fallers overnight on Wall Street, seeing its price fall by 5.8%.

On Monday, the bank said it planned to sell its $8.6bn Canadian credit card portfolio to TD Bank Group.

It also wants to exit its UK and Irish Republic credit card businesses, and will either sell or wind down those operations.

A recent poll that pulsed public’s perceptions of celebrities says Casey Anthony, the Florida woman who was found not guilty recently of murdering her two year-old daughter, is the most hated person in America, and she’s not even a celebrity!

The 25-year-old Anthony is reportedly hiding after being released from jail last July. Her daughter would have been 6 years old yesterday as a group of people and the grandparents gathered near the place where the tot’s body was found.

Anthony was more disliked than California’s “Octomom,” former football star O.J. Simpson and socialite Paris Hilton, according to the poll by E-Poll Market Research which was released Wednesday.

Some legal pundits and millions of Americans were surprised when Anthony was acquitted in July of the murder case of her daughter Caylee Anthony after six weeks of trial.

According to the latest E-Poll’s E-Score Celebrity research, 54 percent of those questioned were aware of Casey Anthony and her story, and 94 percent of those people disliked her. She was also considered “creepy” by 57 percent and “cold” by 60 percent of respondents.

Captain America Ends with a Teaser for ‘The Avengers’

In a post-credits scene of “Captain America: The Last Avenger,” a teaser for the 2012 movie “The Avengers” was shown.

Take a sneak peek of the highly-anticipated film “The Avengers” which was shown at the end part of “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

If you already watched Captain America and left the theater at the time the credits started to roll, then like me, you missed the teaser for “The Avengers.”

I’m not sure if this is the same thing that’s been shown in Philippine theaters, but nevertheless, some clips from Avengers were indeed shown featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, etc.
