TV5’s afternoon and primetime blocks get even more exciting with the network’s revamped program grid.

Starting Monday, September 26, TV5’s public service afternoon block fortifies as top-rated baranggay hall on air Face to Face moves to the 4:30 pm timeslot, followed by the Tulfo brothers’ T3: Kapatid Sagot Kita at 5:30 pm. News program Aksyon completes the public service trio at 6:00 pm.
By bringing two opposing camps in a forum, Face to Face aims to enlighten and eventually reconcile the two erring parties with the help and guidance of experts. Hosted by Amy Perez, Face to Face has been a consistent morning top-rater. Now that it is moving to the afternoon timeblock, it promises a bigger and better show that aims to reach out to more viewers.

TV5’s primetime also shakes up as Willie Revillame’s popular game-variety show Wil Time Big Time starts airing earlier at 6:30 p.m. on weeknights. Viewers will then be treated to back-to-back action and adventure with well-loved series Bangis and aksyonserye Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum. All these and more only on TV5.

14 September 2011 Last updated at 23:25 GMT Catherine Ashton with Benjamin Netanyahu. 13 Sept 2011 Catherine Ashton extended her visit for further talks with Benjamin Netanyahu Senior US and international envoys have begun a fresh round of shuttle diplomacy to try to head off a Palestinian bid for UN membership.

US diplomats Dennis Ross and David Hale, as well as EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Middle-East envoy Tony Blair are in the region to try to revive stalled peace talks.

Palestinians are preparing a bid for UN membership later this month.

Israel has warned of "harsh and grave consequences" if the move goes ahead.

Mr Ross and Mr Hale arrived in Israel on Wednesday and held talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak, the US State Department said.

They were due to travel to the West Bank on Thursday for talks with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

Baroness Ashton also held talks with Mr Netanyahu on Wednesday morning, and announced she was extending her visit for further talks in the evening.

"I hope that in the coming days what we will be able to achieve together will be something that enables the negotiations to start," she said.

Analysts say the 27-member EU could split over the issue of Palestinian statehood if it comes to a vote at the UN, with some states backing the effort and others likely to oppose it.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday spoke to Mr Blair - who represents the Quartet of international Middle East negotiators - and to Baroness Ashton, state department spokesman Mark Toner said.

"This is part of our intensive effort here to find a way forward," he added.

The last round of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians broke down a year ago.

Since then, the Palestinians have launched a campaign to join the UN as a full member state with international recognition based on their 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as a capital.

The UN begins its annual General Assembly general debate in New York on 21 September.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, speaking on Wednesday, warned of dire consequences if the Palestinians went ahead.

"From the moment they pass a unilateral decision there will be harsh and grave consequences," he said.

"I hope that we shall not come to those harsh and grave consequences, and that common sense will prevail in all decisions taken," he added.

Some hardline Israeli politicians have called for Israel to annex sections of the West Bank if the Palestinians go ahead.

Demonstrators on Sunday urged the Turkish government to be more accountable for violence against women. Some carried mock coffins and wedding dresses as they marched in Istanbul on SundayProtesters urged government to be more accountable for violence against women2009 survey: 42% were physically or sexually abused by a husband or partnerCritics say Turkey has lapsed in implementing affirmative action for women

Istanbul (CNN) -- Hundreds of people in Istanbul called on Sunday for the Turkish government to be more proactive about protecting women from domestic abuse.

People in the crowd carried mock coffins and wedding dresses as they marched down one of the busiest pedestrian thoroughfares in Istanbul. Protestors also carried signs bearing the names and faces of murdered women.

Demonstrators urged the Turkish government to be more accountable for violence against women.

"We struggle with the government's laws because the government is the first responsible for the women's murders, because they don't protect," said Funda Koc, a 28-year-old teacher and activist.

"We want the government to make strict laws" against harming women, she said.

The organizers of the protest, the Platform to End Women's Murders, say women are murdered every day in Turkey.

According to a 2009 report released by the Turkish government, 42% of women surveyed said they had been physically or sexually abused by their husband or partner.

Turkey has adopted several progressive laws to protect women in the past 15 years, including the 1998 Protection Order against Domestic Violence. Reform of Turkey's Civil Code in 2001 gave women equal legal status to men in the family.

A constitutional referendum last September allowed for affirmative action in favor of women. But critics say the Turkish state has lapsed far behind in implementing these laws.

"Gaps in the law and implementation failures by police, prosecutors, judges, and other officials make the protection system unpredictable at best, and at times downright dangerous," Human Rights Watch said in a recently released report titled, "He Loves You, He Beats You."

CNN's Ivan Watson and Yesim Comert contributed to this report.
