Beyonce showed up at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles wearing a loose fitting orange dress, holding her visible baby bump as she posed on the red carpet and chat with the press.

Beyonce performed her song “Love on Top”, then proudly rubbed her baby bump and told the crowd: “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.”

“Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children,” she added.

The child will be the first for Beyonce and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, who married in 2008.

Beyonce also ignored the rumors that a party planner and music video director was trying to lure away her husband from her.

According to reports, the party planner, Vashtei Kola, was being linked to Jay-Z after the woman reportedly had some business dealings with him and “told” friends she was trying to lure him away from Beyonce.

But the power couple are happily married for 3 years and now that they are expecting their first child, rumors like this just won’t affect them a bit, according to a veteran Beyonce-Jay-Z source. Paul Soriano was interviewed by his girlfriend Toni Gonzaga on the Buzz last Sunday.

The interview was supposed to be about Soriano’s Indie film “Thelma” which stars Maja Salvador. But as the interview went on, the topic swerved to “marriage” and this time, the director is announcing on national television how happy and lucky he is with the trust and love given to him by Toni.

“When you gave me your heart four years ago, I don’t just don’t wanna listen to your heart, I wanna take good care of it. That means whatever makes you happy, makes me happy. Anything that makes you shine.” he said.

At the end of the interview, Paul popped a surprise question that made Toni blushed.

“Everyone’s asking me besides the film, ‘when are we getting married’, ‘when are we going up to the next level’. You know naman that I’m ready. I’m turning 30 this October. And I believe talaga in my 30s I’m all settled up. So what I’m trying to say here is….’Will you….’…” Paul declared.

“Kakaloka ka, tigilan mo yan. ‘Wag mong gagawin yan.” Toni interrupted.

“When will you be ready? ‘Coz I’m ready, I’m ready. Just let me know what time, where, when you wanna do it…you wanna get married…So when are you gonna be ready?” continued Paul.

“Later na lang. Pinagmamadali mo ko!” Toni said as she ended the interview.

Toni Gonzaga‘s movie, “pWedding Tayo, pWedding Hindi,” which is incidentally about wedding is set to premiere tonight at SM North Edsa The Block and Trinoma Mall.

Paul Soriano‘s indie film “Thelma,” on the other hand, is set to open in theaters on September 7.

Chocolate and heart disease recent study suggests that eating chocolate is good for the heart as published by the British Medical Journal (BMK).

The article in the magazine’s latest issue presented a large scale analysis of seven studies which involved more than 100,000 participants without heart disease.

According to the report, researchers at the University of Cambridge in England found that five of the studies revealed that high levels of chocolate consumption reduced heart disease risks.

A 37 percent reduction in heart disease was linked to studies in which participants ate the most chocolate, and 29 percent reduction in stroke compared to studies in which participants ate the least amount of chocolates.

The researchers however stressed that further study is needed to confirm the beneficial effect of chocolate consumption. Furthermore, some types of chocolate like milk chococaltes are said to be high in calories, in which eating too much could lead to obesity and increase the risk of diabetes and other diseases.

“You should eat chocolate in a moderate way and in a regular manner,” study author Dr. Oscar Franco said.

ABS-CBN Corporation, posted lower first-half profits at P1.7 billion, down 26% on weak sales and lower advertising revenues. The profit drop was limited due to a P674-million one-time gain on the sale of Sky Cable Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs) to Singapore's STT Communications. However, it was not enough to make up for the absence of political advertising which totaled P1.3 billion in the midst of national and local elections last year.Consolidated revenues hit P13.9 billion, a decline of 18% on year. Advertising revenues likewise dipped 24% at P8.8 billion.Stripping out the sale of Sky Cable's PDRs and political advertising last year, total revenues rose 1% and advertising revenues at 4%.Consumer sales for the first half was also down 4% at P5.1 billion, mainly from ABS-CBN Global, while revenues dropped 14% on year, on lower subscriber growth and stronger peso versus the dollar.ABS-CBN Global's overall viewer count dropped 1% on year, led by declines in the Middle East, Europe and Japan, but it's the contrary in markets like Canada, Asia-Pacific and Australia. The company set a P3 billion profit target for 2011, which the firm acknowledged may be tough to achieve."It will be a challenging year," ABS-CBN chief financial officer Ron Valdueza said.ABS-CBN Corp. is the parent firm of ABS-CBNNews.com.- by Liza Reyes of ABS-CBN News

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will endorse to administration economic managers the Japanese ISDB-T technology as the country’s standard for digital terrestrial television (DTT), as the majority of broadcast firms’ stakeholders prefer it to the European standard because of cheaper set-top boxes.Jose Carlo Martinez, NTC deputy commissioner, said the technical working group chose ISDB-T after the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and major television networks ABS-CBN and TV5 supported the Japanese standard.GMA Network Inc. and Broadcast Enterprises & Affiliated Media Inc. expressed preference for the European standard."The implementing rules and regulations on DTT will be release as soon as we receive the go signal," Martinez said.He is targeting the issuance this year. The guidelines for the DTT were supposed to have been issued last June, but the Office of the President directed the NTC to do another evaluation between the Japanese and European standards.Although the European standard was found technically superior, the Japanese set-top box was found much cheaper at $20 against its rival’s $40.A paper submitted by the KBP said that although the DVB-T2 system is technically superior to ISDB-T, these advantages have been irrelevant to the most important stakeholder in the project as consumers need a cheaper set-top box for migration to DTT."The cost of the (box) is the key to harmonizing the opposing interests. The low cost lowers the entry or migration barrier for the consumer and hastens the analog shut off," KBP said.

The Filipino Channel, ABS-CBN's international cable channel, saw signs of waning after recent global crisis hits OFW presence worldwide. In H1 2011, ABS-CBN's bottom line was partly affected by the weak earnings  of its consumer sales, attributed by a significant drop in its subscriber base.

Consumer sales for the first half of 2011 amounted to P5.1 billion, posting a 4% decrease or P219 million less from a year ago, mainly from ABS-CBN Global. ABS-CBN Global revenues declined by 14% year on year in peso terms due to the decline in subscribers and the appreciation of the Philippine peso against the US dollar. Meanwhile, Sky Cable continues to contribute positively with revenues increasing by 8% to P2.1 billion. This is mostly driven by the increased take up of its broadband service subscriptions which increased by 23% year-on-year

ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. released eight films in the first six months of this year. Four of them–Ang Tanging Ina Mo Last Na To, Dalaw, Catch Me I’m in Love and In The Name of Love–topped P100 million in box office recSky Cable’s consolidated revenues from cable TV and broadband services grew 8% year-on-year, driven by strong growth in broadband subscriptions.ABS-CBN Global’s overall viewer count decreased by 1% year-on-year, driven by the decline in subscriber growth in the Middle East, Europe and Japan. Double digit subscriber growth continued to be experienced in Canada, and mid-to-high single digit subscriber growth in Asia-Pacific and Australia.

THE Quezon City government on Monday said it was moving ahead to collect over P1 billion in unpaid business taxes owed by the ABS-CBN network.

He referred to the Supreme Court’s October 2008 ruling favoring City Hall.ABS-CBN has religiously paid its franchise tax, equivalent to 0.57 percent of 1 percent of its annual gross receipts, but not the local business tax of 0.57 percent of 2 percent of the annual gross receipts that the Quezon City government has imposed. The amount has ballooned to over P1 billion since 2006.Earlier, the Quezon City government moved to collect about P823 million in similar back taxes from GMA Network.

ABS-CBN’s regular advertising revenues increased by 4% year-on-year due an upswing in its advertising minutes in prime time which makes up 75% of the company's total ad income. The big jump in prime time offset the decline in the daytime caused by week afternoon and noontime programs. The absence of Wowowee which was one of the main money makers last year was negligible thanks to the increased load in the late morning and evening slots.  However, counting non-recurring political advocacies advertising revenues experienced a decline of 24% from a year ago reaching only P8.8 billion.Net income attributable to shareholders for the first half of 2011 is at P1.7 billion, aided by a gain on sale of Sky Cable Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs) to the Singaporean company, STT Communications Ltd. Meanwhile, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) hit P4.0 billion. For the period January to June 2011, eighteen of the company’s primetime shows were in the Top 20 with fifteen occupying the Top 13 slots: Emil Cruz Jr.’s Mara Clara, 100 Days To Heaven, Pablo S. Gomez’s Mutya, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Guns And Roses, Pilipinas Got Talent (Saturday and Sunday), Noah, Maalaala Mo Kaya, TV Patrol (Weekday), Imortal, Rated K Handa Na Ba Kayo?, Wansapanataym, Gandang Gabi Vice and Goin’ Bulilit.

The people’s show managed to get a 6.5-percent AMR or 28.8-percent audience share in MegaTam, compared to ABS-CBN’s ratings by day ...of 4.9 percent AMR (21.3 percent share) and GMA’s 5.8 percent AMR (25.3 percent share).Among all game-variety shows, Wil Time Bigtime was the most watched last Saturday, generating the highest number of viewers in nationwide urban TV. Based on Nielsen’s NuTam data last Saturday (August 13), Wil Time Bigtime generated almost 2.7 million viewers compared to ABS-CBN’s The Price is Right with only 2.1 million viewers. Moreover, Wil Time Bigtime captured almost 400,000 more viewers versus GMA’s Manny Many Prizes, which only posted an average of 2.3 million viewers nationwide.Despite the show’s continuous success in the ratings game, Revillame is still in awe that even after years of dealing with a multitude of stories from different people through his TV programs, stirring accounts of the tough, faithful Filipino spirit are still being told. One such experience was seen when the show featured differently-abled people in a Wil Time Bigtime segment recently—a very first for Kuya Wil since he ventured into TV hosting. All the way from Baguio—with only their 5-year-old daughter serving as their eyes throughout their commute—a blind married couple braved the chilly north road at 2 in the morning and made it to the audition venue in Quezon City just before noon. JR, a blind massage therapist, was selected to join the segment where at least P3.5 million worth of prizes were at stake.During the interview portion with Revillame, JR and wife Shirley were reluctant to accept so much money from Revillame. For the Wil Time Bigtime host, it’s not every day that people refuse money they think is beyond what they need. He was so inspired that, instead of the usual P5,000 he hands over to a contestant, he gave JR a total of P37,000. “Kahit hindi na po ako manalo ngayon malaking tulong na po 'to. Hindi ko na hangad na makuha ang jackpot,” JR said, his voice cracking with emotion. He added that he will use the money to start a small vegetable buy-and-sell enterprise in Baguio. The Wil Time Bigtime host admitted that the blind masseur’s character gave him a personal awakening. He said, “Alam mo, JR, inspirasyon kayo sa'ming mga normal na tao. Inspirasyon kayo sa'min na minsan marami pang hinahangad sa buhay, marami pang hinihingi. Pero samantalang kayo simple lang. Napakaswerte namin na naging bisita namin kayong lahat kasi namumulat kami kung gaano kahalaga ang tunay na pagmamahal sa kapwa [You know, JR, you inspire people like us, who often want so much more in life even though we are already so blessed. In contrast, people like you who must struggle through life only have simple wishes. It’s an honor to meet people like you, who teach us the virtue of loving others].”

ABS-CBN's total operating and other expenses dropped by P969 million or 9% year-on-year to P10.4 billion. This was partly a result of lower cost of sales and services and general and administrative expenses (GAEX) as the company continued its effort to manage and control expenses. The decline in both expense accounts more than made up for the increase in total production costs due to the Company’s drive to produce quality and innovative programs.Capital expenditure and film and program rights acquisition for the first half of 2011 amounted to P2.1 billion, P542 million or 34% higher than the level of spending from previous year. Additional equipment was purchased to increase the company’s capacity to produce additional new programs.ABS-CBN maintained its national audience share and ratings leadership with prime-time audience share averaging 42% in the first quarter of 2011, with a 12 percentage point lead over GMA’s, based on the Kantar National TV Ratings figure.

No less than the Megastar herself, Sharon Cuneta, dropped a hint about the current status of the relationship of her daughter KC Concepcion with her boyfriend Piolo Pascual.

In an interview with TV Patrol last night, August 24, the Megastar said she’s not free to talk about what her daughter is going through with her lovelife. But then she addressed her concerns to KC because she said she “couldn’t help speaking her mind.”

“Basta, Kristina, mama’s here. Don’t forget you’re my daughter. We love you. We went through so much when you were little. You don’t have to go through it yourself,” she said.

Then she continued, “Kasi, ‘di ko pinalaki ‘yan para i-take for granted lang at balewalain.”

Earlier this year, Piolo admitted on national television that he and KC have been a couple since October 2010. And KC herself testified last Sunday on her showbiz talk show “The Buzz” that she and Piolo have been going out for 10 months.

However, rumor has it that the power couple had broken up.

The speculations started last April when Piolo did not show up on KC’s birthday. KC even wished that she receives a birthday greeting from her boyfriend but it never happened.

Then KC reportedly visited Piolo in one of his shoots unannounced to catch a glimpse of him. She went in front of him, yelled “Happy Anniversary” and left the scene abruptly. People who witnessed it said there’s something odd about what happened.

Is Piolo avoiding KC? Have they really broken up? These issues are yet to be answered by either one of them.

It took them more than 3 months to admit that they are in a relationship. How many months will it take this time for them to admit that it’s over?

Jackson Hole Summit speech of Federal Reserve Board of Governors Chairman Ben Bernanke on Friday may hint at yet another monetary push to boost the slowing U.S. economy.

However, the Wall Street Journal reported most economists think that such suggestions at the annual conference of economists in this Wyoming resort “are overly optimistic.”

“Bernanke is unlikely to fulfill the markets’ hopes that he will pave the way for a third round of asset purchases (QE3),” economists from Toronto’s Capital Economics wrote in a note Wednesday that was reported in the Wall Street Journal. “And even if he did, QE3 is unlikely to boost the economy, equity prices or commodity prices by as much as QE1 and QE2 [did].”

At last year’s conference, Bernanke unveiled plans for a $600-million round of bond buying, which the Journal said he “essentially unveiled QE2.” The action triggered positive market reaction.

This year, markets will be listening closely to Bernanke’s words for any hint at a stimulus from the United States government. The New York Times reported that speeches from the Fed are made to “cause minimal market excitement – either good or bad” and previous announcements by the Fed suggest little change in policy.

InTouch magazine could be facing legal trouble following their report that Hollywood couple Will and Jada Smith ended their marriage.

Last Tuesday, the Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith separation rumors hit the headlines of broadsheets as well as entertainment sites which was ignited by the InTouch report which source, they said, came from a reliable insider.

Representatives for both Smith and Pinkett Smith have released statements on Wednesday saying that they are not separating and that the rumors are completely false.

The sub-rumor linking Pinkett Smith with her Hawthorne co-star Marc Anthony have also been denied by Anthony’s representatives.

However, an article from the latest issue of InTouch magazine alleges the contrary. The dramatic headline reads, “Two marriages destroyed: Jada steals J.Lo’s husband!”

Within the magazine, the six-page feature claims to have details from sources and photo proof that Pinkett Smith and Anthony have been secretly involved.

InTouch alleges that Smith found Pinkett Smith and Anthony together in early August when he made a surprise visit to one of their Los Angeles homes. The article claims that an insider was not able to give details of the encounter, but that Jada moved out of the house the next day and Will subsequently fired the house staff, accusing them of covering up the affair.

Will and Jada Smith believe InTouch has crossed the line that’s why they reportedly contacted their legal team to mull a possible case against the gossip publication.

Bank of America stock

Bank of America stock gets the boost that it needed after Warren Buffet invested $5 billion in the company. This is following the news that Bank of America is in danger because of its collapsing stock on Wednesday.

The Bank of America is now under fire from shareholders and analysts because the injection of capital helped restore confidence in the company and helped the Wall Street firm attract other investments.

“Bank of America is a strong, well-led company,” Buffett said in a statement released by Bank of America (BOA).

“I am impressed with the profit-generating abilities of this franchise, and that they are acting aggressively to put their challenges behind them.

“Bank of America is focused on their customers and on serving them well. That’s what customers want, and that’s the company’s strategy.”
