HTC‘s investment into Beats by Dr. Dre has finally gotten some airtime with the refresh of their flagship Android smartphone, the HTC Sensation XE.
It’s not really a surprise that HTC wants some of that rockstar vibes that comes with Beats. The only difference between the old HTC Sensation and the Sensation XE is the bump in clock-speed to 1.5GHz.
HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio specs:
4.3 inches @ 540 x 960 pixels
1.5 GHz dual-core processor
Adreno 220 GPU
Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon
Gorilla glass display
1 GB storage, 768 MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD, 8GB included
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
8MP autofocus camera, dual-LED flash
1080p @ 30fps video, stereo sound recording
GPS with A-GPS support
Li-Ion 1730 mAh
HTC Sense 3.5 UI
Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread
So aside from the 20% increase in clock speed, a couple hundred milli-amps more on the battery and the inclusion of custom Beats earphones, it’s basically the same sleek and sexy HTC Sensation we’ve all known for some time. As for the price, we expect something in the premium range — possibly around or above the original suggested retail price of the Sensation when it first came out (remember, Beats earphones are pretty expensive on their own).
Expected release is last quarter of 2011. For our thoughts about the HTC Sensation, you can read our full review here.
