Colorado Quake is Largest in 4 Decades

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit the state of Colorado around 11:46 p.m. on Monday.

The quake was recorded about nine miles southwest of Trinidad shaking hundreds of people near the New Mexico border about 180 miles south of Denver, according to the National Earthquake Information Center.

It was said that this was the largest earthquake to hit Colorado since a magnitude 5.7 was recorded in 1973.

Some minor damages to a few homes were reported.
