Respected stalwart of the theater Audie Gemora celebrated his birthday recently, and there seems to be no stopping the King of Philippine Musical Theater from sharing his talent to the public.

“This industry has taught me so much, has opened many doors for me, has given me so much recognition,” says Audie. “Everything that I do now is really my humble way of giving back.”

Audie, as director, successfully opened the re-staging of the Ryan Cayabyab and Bien Lumbera musical Noli Me Tangere, which stars Mark Bautista, Cris Villonco and Gian Magdangal, last weekend. The show runs all weekends of August at the CCP Little Theater.

“It has been 17 years since I originated the role of Crisostomo Ibarra in Noli,” says Audie. “So, it is with great honor that I was given this chance to direct the musical in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of our national hero.”
Months ago, Audie received the Gawad Buhay for Best Direction award for his work on the local staging of the controversial Equus. He has also been tapped to be at the helm of Repertory Philippines (Rep)’ production of yet another controversial piece Next Fall.

Audie is also Executive Producer of the highly-ambitious Peter Pan, topbilled by Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos. This musical, which opens September 29 at the Meralco Theater, marks the first co-production between Audie’s STAGES and Rep.

Aside from directing and producing, Audie has not really retired from acting onstage. In fact, he is set to reprise his role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, which goes onstage at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World.
However, if there’s one thing that really excites Audie, it is the opportunity to hone the talents and provide opportunities for the Talent5 kids.

In addition, Audie is also releasing a special CD called “Playlist.”
