Despite all its wonderful features, Mac OS X Lion has a few pesky quirks. One of those annoyances is the lack of an official tool which would allow you to create recovery or repair disks which would reinstall the operating system in case something went wrong. 

Actually, I should say that this was an annoyance. Why? Because Apple just released something called the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant.

This handy dandy utility will allow you to create a recovery USB drive — yes, a USB drive and not an old school disk — with which you can reinstall or repair Mac OS X Lion. This USB drive will basically have the same capabilities as the Recovery HD partition automatically created when you install Mac OS X Lion except that it will function even if "you cannot start your computer with the built-in Recovery HD, or you have replaced the hard drive with a new one that does not have Mac OS X installed."

Why on earth would you need this? Because sometimes bad things happen to good computers and people — and you should be prepared.
